  • Ribbon Accents

I have a huge collection of ribbon.  It started back in college and has continued ever since.   So when I was looking at Martha Stewart Weddings, and I came across these pictures, I got hugely inspired.  So many possibilities to tie in these details to your special day and the accents are not that hard to make in advance!
First Up: Instead of flower boutonnieres, have your Groom and Groomsmen stand out in these handmade ribbon boutonnieres.

Tie in this accent by using ribbon chandeliers at your reception space.  They are great big pom poms that have a very elegant look.

And the last inspiration shot for today; make napkin rings using the ribbon bow detail and incorporating the colors of your wedding onto the table.  Great way to add a pop of color on the table and they are super easy to make so you could make them all way in advance and have your Wedding Coordinator set them up the day of the wedding.

  • Cupcake in a Jar

Desserts are great favors to any gathering, because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love dessert!  And this is a mess free option that is incredibly easy to make.

Step 1 – Take a mini canning jar, and layer raspberry jam on the bottom

Step 2- Place a cupcake (vanilla in this case) on top of the jam.

Step 3 - Place cream cheese frosting on top, close the lid and you’re done!

If you haven’t already eaten the cupcake you just assembled (because you know that I totally would have by now!),  you can customize this as a favor by adding a wooden spoon for your guest to enjoy the cupcake in a jar as well as well as add a label on top.  Print on cardstock paper and use a circle cutter to cut to size before attaching to the top of the jar.

Prepare to see these disappear as soon as they are put out on the table!

  • A Green Matchbook

At first glance you may be thinking, matchbooks?  Really Katie?  Yes, well I wanted to share this very green “matchbook” idea that I came across on Martha Stewart Weddings.  Love is all about the growth of your relationship, and even those relationships with your family and close friends.  This idea gives each guest a packet of seeds that they can plant at their house, and as it grows, it is a constant reminder to you and them of your wedding day where they witnessed your love for your husband to be.

You can find pdfs that you can download to print these yourself on your home computer.   A wedding seed mix is about $45 a pound (Martha Stewart suggests Flower Art & Soul) , and a pound will go very far in small glassine envelopes like these G7 ones from Clearbags which are $2.70 for 50 envelopes.  The only other materials you will need:

    Cardstock
    Color Printer
    Staples
Optional: bone folder for folding at the dotted lines
